Jim McLean has been involved with The First Tee Miami-Dade Amateur Golf Association since arriving at the Doral Resort in the 1990's.

He annually thrills the more than 600 youngsters and their families from around the world with his clinic and demonstration held during the Doral Publix Junior Golf Classic.

Not only does he provide thoughtful instruction and wisdom he brings Professional Tour Players like Eric Compton ( past Doral Publix Jr winner and past Canadian Tour Order of Merit Winner) and Cristie Kerr ( also a past Doral Publix Jr Champion and currently one of the top ranked women in the world).

Both Eric and Cristie were ranked #1 Jr. Player at the finish of their Junior eligibility. Also interesting is that First Tee Miami-DAGA founder Charlie Delucca and Jim have both provided instruction to these young stars over the span of their phenomenal careers.

But Jim doesn't only provide instruction to those with obvious talent, he also helps nurture this in the many inner city youngsters that have attended the clinics sponsored by the PGA Tour event held each year at the Doral Resort.

It should also be noted that while both of his sons were coming through the Junior ranks Jim could be seen quietly in the galleries with the other parents, obeying the spectator rules, supporting his children and again, leading by example.
